Pre‑season socials are basically the warm‑up stretches for the social side of cricket, and let’s be honest, some of us are far better at those than the actual stretches. They give everyone a chance to shake off the winter cobwebs and swap a few wildly optimistic predictions about the season ahead.
For a community Club, these gatherings set the tone for the months ahead: inclusive, welcoming, and united. They remind everyone that cricket here isn’t just about results, it’s about people, connection, and enjoying the journey together. They’re also the perfect way to welcome our many new faces and reconnect with old ones.
Saturday 7th February – Kicking Off 2026 in Style at Woodies!
The new year brings new energy, new optimism, and, starting from 4pm on Saturday 7th February, the beginning of our 2026 social calendar. The weekend coincides with the start of England’s T20 World Cup campaign and, if the early chatter is to be believed, England’s first win on the road to a potential Six Nations Grand Slam.
Our first social of the year sees us supporting Woodies, one of our proud Club sponsors, as we gather to watch England v Wales in what promises to be a fiery opening Six Nations clash. Woodies offer the perfect setting for an afternoon of sport, banter, and catching up after the winter break.
The first social of the year always has a special feel. It’s when players reconnect away from indoor nets, new faces get their first taste of the Club’s off-field spirit, and the countdown to pre-season truly begins.
Here’s to a great afternoon and an even better year ahead.
Saturday 14th February – No Social (Valentine’s Day). Let’s Not Push It!
Saturday 21st February – Celebrating Success at the WYW&GCL Annual Presentation!
We head to one of Yorkshire’s most iconic sporting venues on Saturday 21st February, as we attend the West Yorkshire Women & Girls Cricket League Annual Presentation in the Centenary Pavilion at Elland Road.
It promises to be a memorable evening for the Club as we step up to collect the Archer Cup, awarded for our achievement during the 2025 season. This trophy represents not only on-field success, but once again the hard work, commitment, and spirit shown behind the scenes.
With the 2026 season fast approaching, the Presentation Evening is the perfect opportunity to build momentum and inspire the next chapter of our women’s and girls’ cricket story, surrounded by Clubs and inspiring individuals from across the region who share the same passion for developing the women and girls’ game.
Here’s to a brilliant night at Elland Road, and to an even brighter future for women’s and girls’ cricket at St Chad’s Broomfield CC.
Saturday 28th February – Our Annual Pool Competition Returns!
Our much-loved pre-season tradition is back, and it promises to be bigger, louder, and even more competitive than ever. From 1pm on Saturday 28th February, we’ll be taking over the Stateside Pool Lounge at the Northern Snooker Centre on Kirkstall Road for an afternoon of cue sports, camaraderie, and classic Chad’s chaos.
And yes… the big question remains: Can anyone stop Club Chair Paul Berry from completing a hat trick of titles? He’s already polishing his imaginary trophy shelf, so the challenge is officially on.
Whether you’re a seasoned potter or someone who still calls the white ball “the cue ball thingy,” you’re welcome.
The lounge is packed with big screens showing all the afternoon’s live sport, including the closing stages of the T20 World Cup. So even if your pool form deserts you, there’s plenty to keep you entertained.
Entry is just £6 per player, covering the cost of the tables—great value for an afternoon of sport, banter, and bragging rights.
Once the final black is sunk and a new (or painfully familiar) champion is crowned, we’ll carry them triumphantly a few doors down to the Kirkstall Brewery Tap to sample their excellent ales and pizzas.
After that, we’ll head to a nearby pub or bar to watch Leeds United demolish Manchester City, because optimism is a core Club value!
Saturday 7th March – New Year Charity Match. Click here for more details.
Saturday 14th March – End of Indoor League Social & Awards.
This is the perfect way to wrap up the winter season with a smile. It’s a relaxed chance for everyone to swap stories from the indoor league, celebrate the small victories (including finally middling one in week seven), and applaud the players who’ve shone throughout the indoor campaign. With a few light‑hearted awards, plenty of banter, and the whole club in one place, it marks the moment we shift from indoor optimism to outdoor ambition and reminds us why this club is such a brilliant community to be part of.
This will be held from 5pm at the Club, where the café/bar will be open, before heading over to Woodies to watch England complete the Six Nations Grand Slam against France!
Saturday 21st & 28th March – Get Set Weekends.
Get Set Weekend is the ECB’s annual call to arms for clubs across the country, and for us it’s become a brilliant tradition that blends teamwork, elbow grease, and a good dose of laughter.
It’s the moment we all roll up our sleeves, players, parents, juniors, volunteers, and friends of the club, to get the ground and pavilion looking sharp and ready for the season ahead.
Whether it’s sorting the sightscreens or boundary rope, tidying the pavilion, or discovering just how many leaves can fit in one wheelbarrow, the weekend reminds us that our club is built on community spirit. It’s not just about preparing the facilities, it’s about reconnecting after winter, welcoming new faces, and starting the season with a shared sense of pride and togetherness.
The café will be open all day, serving hot and cold food and drinks, and the bar will be open afterwards to help us celebrate our teamwork and achievements.
