Playing at Follifoot CC, the 2nd XI decided to field first, continuing the theme of Chad teams batting second for this week. The away team got off to a good start with the ball, reducing Follifoot to 71/4, and then 138/7 before some counter-attacking batting from the hosts’ lower order took them 186/9 off their 45 overs. Once again, Adam Livingston was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for just 26 runs off 13 overs. Jamie Phelan was impressive again, taking 3/37 from 11 overs. Supporting the openers with the ball was Aksshat Iyer, who took two wickets for 22 runs off his seven overs.
With the bat, Chads got off to a decent start, reaching 112 before losing a fourth wicket. At this stage, the match was still in the balance, but the second-change bowler from Follitfoot, who ended up with four wickets, changed the match as Chads went from 112/4 to all out for 123. Saugata Bhattacharya (40 from 76) and Tom Wright (29 from 37) played positively but unfortunately it wasn’t enough against a fantastic, match-changing spell from one of Follifoot’s bowlers.
