Playing at home, the 2nd XI were looking for their first win of the season but came up against a strong visiting side, who won the toss and decided to bat first. At 64-3, Chads were on top early with the ball but a partnership of 94 took Thackley to 158 before they lost their fourth wicket. From there, the visitors had a number of important partnerships in the middle order as they reached 286-9 from their 45 overs. Chad’s captain Adam Livingston stood out with the ball, taking four wickets, while both Pardeep Singh Narwal and Jamie Phelan took two each to make sure they got four bowling points.
Unfortunately, Chads couldn’t match the batting effort by Thackley. Nazmul Hasan (21 from 32) and Jack Crutchley (16 from 11) tried to battle their way through a dangerous bowling attack, but the visiting team were too good with the ball as they bowled out Chads for 95 to record a comfortable win. The 2nd XI will be motivated to bounce back strongly this weekend away at Follifoot CC.
