Coming off their first league win of the season in a thriller last week, the 1st XI travelled to play Tong Park Esholt CC. St Chad’s bowled first, and started well with the ball, reducing the hosts to 26-2 before a key partnership took them to 118 before losing their next wicket. Tong Park Esholt’s middle order performed well, and despite two wickets apiece to Tom Russell and Oliver Hewetson-Brown on his first team debut, the home team posted a good score of 234-7 from their 45 overs.
A number of batters got starts for St Chad’s in their innings, but no-one converted those starts to big scores, and that was ultimately the difference on the day. Ezra Tattersall top-scored with 28 (60) opening the batting but unfortunately for Chads, only one other player passed 20 as they were bowled out for 142. They will be looking to bounce back this Saturday with a match at home against nearby Kirkstall Educational CC.
