Following a high scoring contest away against Menston - Crompark CC, the 4th XI welcomed Barwick in Elmet CC to Richmond House on Saturday. Winning the toss, Chads decided to bowl first in hot conditions. The opposition got off to a solid start, with the score on 86 before they lost their second wicket. The third wicket fell with the score on 105 after a run out from Aakash Sanjay Shinde, who would end up having a superb match for Chads. From there onwards, Barwick in Elmet never really recovered and lost regular wickets as they reached 164 for the loss of nine wickets after batting through their 40 overs. To go along with his run-out, Aakash ended up with 5/28 off his 11 overs which included a maiden and was the pick of the bowlers for Chads. He was well supported by stand-in captain James Prowse, taking 3/49 off 10 overs.

Aakash and the captain both opened the batting, but Chads lost an early wicket. Sivakumar Vedanayagam then continued his solid form with the bat, reaching 19 and putting on a partnership of 51 before being out LBW. From there, it wasn’t straightforward for Chads. However, Aakash continued to perform after his effort with the ball, and with runs coming from the lower order, the 4th XI won their second match of the season by two wickets, reaching the target of 165 from 36 overs. Aakash was player of the match as he ended on 110 not out to go with his 5fer with the ball to round off a great result for the home side. This result sees the 4th XI move within just four points from the 6th placed side in the division and they will be looking to continue this form for the rest of the season.
