Just up the road from Chads at Richmond House, the 4th XI played their first league match of the season against Menston CC-Crompark in a thrilling match. Batting first, the visiting team bowled well, but a counter-attack from the middle order helped the home side accelerate the run-rate through the middle overs. Sivakumar Vedanayagam (47 from 77), Rishabh Tiwari (66 from 44) and William Clarkson (31 from 23) were key in getting Chads to 183 all out on the last ball of their 40-over innings.
It was a tight battle most of the way through the Mention CC-Crompark innings, but the key was keeping wickets in hand. At 84-4, the match was in the balance, but the visiting team finished strongly, with one player making a match-winning 90 not-out being the main difference on the day. The wickets were shared around Chad's bowlers, but an impressive display by one batter was the difference on the day as the visiting team won by five wickets with just 10 deliveries left.
