We are delighted to confirm that, from the 2027 season, our 1st XI and 2nd XI will compete in the Yorkshire Premier League North (YPLN). This marks a major milestone in the Club’s long term development plan and reflects the ambition, progress, and commitment shown across our senior cricket pathway in recent years.
The Yorkshire Premier League North is one of Yorkshire’s ECB Premier League competitions, offering a consistently high standard of cricket, strong organisational structures, and a competitive environment that supports player development at all levels. Moving into the YPLN aligns with our strategic goals around coaching investment, performance progression, and the continued enhancement of our facilities and cricketing infrastructure. It also provides our players with new challenges, new opposition, and increased visibility across the wider Yorkshire cricket landscape.
Travel was also an important consideration in the decision, particularly as the number of Leeds based clubs competing in the YPLN continues to increase. We are also looking forward to renewing rivalries with several clubs we last faced in the old Wetherby Cricket League, adding a further sense of history and familiarity to this exciting new challenge.
While our 1st XI and 2nd XI prepare for Premier League cricket, our 3rd XI and 4th XI will continue to compete in the Dales Council Cricket League for the foreseeable future. The Dales Council remains an important part of our club structure, providing competitive senior cricket, development opportunities for emerging players, and a welcoming environment for those progressing through our junior pathway or returning to the game.
Our thanks to the Pontefract & District Cricket League
As we look ahead to this new chapter, we also want to acknowledge the role played by the Pontefract & District Cricket League in our recent history. We extend our sincere thanks to the league and its Management Committee for their support, fairness, and commitment over the past few seasons. The PDCL has provided a competitive, well run, and community focused environment that has helped our senior cricket flourish. We are grateful for the relationships built and wish the league continued success.
New players: join us now and be part of the 2027 push
With Premier League cricket on the horizon, now is the perfect time for new players to join us. Whether you are an experienced cricketer seeking a fresh challenge, a developing player looking for a pathway into higher level cricket, or someone returning to the game, we would love to welcome you.
Joining us ahead of the 2027 season means you can be part of our preparations from the ground up — winter training, preseason planning, squad building, and the collective effort to hit the ground running in our first year in the YPLN. We are building something exciting, ambitious, and community driven, and new players will play a vital role in shaping that journey.
