Our FIVE weekend senior teams have now finished their seasons.
The 1st XI clinched a hat-trick of division titles with only one league defeat, which ended a winning run stretching back to 2023! Joe Eyles was the leading run scorer with 469 runs at an average of 36.08, and Praveen Thotagamuwa was the leading wicket taker again with 44 wickets at an average of 14.82.
The 2nd XI also won their division, securing back-to-back division titles, again with only one league defeat. Will Griffiths was the leading run scorer with 414 runs at an average of 41.40, and Rob Heald was the leading wicket taker with 38 wickets at an average of 14.50.
The 3rd XI had a mixed season, finishing mid-table after winning 8 of their 19 games, although some of the defeats were in close games. Bhanu Prabhakar was the leading run scorer again with 336 runs at an average of 19.76, and Omar Pathan was the leading wicket taker with 45 wickets at an average of 15.51.
The 4th XI, mainly made up of club volunteers, avoided finishing bottom of Division D for the first time, and had fun along the way. They finished the season winning 6 and tying 1 of their 19 games. Will Grimsey was the leading run scorer with 200 runs at an average of 14.29, and Paul Scanlon was the leading wicket taker with 23 wickets at an average of 16.87.
Finally, the Sunday XI, who enjoyed their second season in the Mid Yorkshire Sunday Cricket League, which saw us give some of our juniors a taste of senior league cricket for the first time. Jeewan Geeganage was the leading run scorer with 231 runs at an average of 38.50, and Alfie Hasan was the leading wicket taker with 17 wickets at an average of 16.59.
Well done to everyone who has played in our senior teams on a Saturday and Sunday this season.
A special mention goes to Helen Heald, George Berry and Stanley Berry, who between them scored all our 1st XI and 2nd XI league games, and also Dan Probert who umpired in the P&DCL. All four ensured we did not need one of the players to score or umpire which obviously contributed to our success this season. Well done!
