Club statement.

As 2015 Wetherby Cricket League champions, we were offered a place in two leagues higher up the new Yorkshire Cricket Pyramid but we felt that due to a significant increase in travelling times in both of these leagues this would not be ideal for our players, hence the application to join the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League which we had applied to join in each of the previous two years.

Members of the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League Management Committee visited the club recently to discuss our application to join and this was followed by a ground inspection. As a result, our application was approved and put forward to their member clubs to vote on. We were informed on Monday that our application had been successful and were invited to enter our 1st XI and 2nd XI into the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League from next season.

Although our Management Committee had been given a mandate at the last AGM to make a decision on behalf of the club members, we decided to call an EGM where all club members could have their say and an opportunity to vote on the matter. We were delighted to see such a high turnout at the EGM on Tuesday, which was the best attended club meeting for years. After a lengthy discussion, the club members voted 95% in favour of accepting the invitation for our 1st XI and 2nd XI to join the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League.

With the club remaining a member of the Wetherby Cricket League through our 3rd XI and 4th XI, we look forward to continuing our long association with the league and its other member clubs.

The club will need to raise its game, both on and off the field, and plans have already been put in place to enable us to do this. As well as strengthening our playing squad, we will also be looking to recruit additional volunteers to help spread the workload. We will be improving the standard of the ground and facilities in the short term and continuing to move forward with the new pavilion project.
