The icing on the cake after a great season.

It was our turn to host the HT20 Finals Day and what a day it turned out to be as our Evening XI become the first team in the leagues history to retain the HT20 Championship.

Kirkstall Educational booked their place in the final after a comfortable win over New Rover, then it was our turn.

We were drawn against HT20 League Winners, Yeadon from the Bradford League, widely regarded as the best league in the county.

Batting first, Yeadon posted 205 in their 20 overs which was going to be a tough target.....or was it? We got off to a great start with Nick smashing runs for fun, which took us to 90-0 after only 7 overs. He eventually ended up on 76 off 33 balls. Then Will came to the crease and made it clear what his game plan was going to be with a six off his first ball. He smashed 46 off 16 balls and with 20* in 11 balls from Mo, we reached the target comfortably (with a ball to spare)!

So onto Kirkstall Educational in the final. They had us 37-4 in the 8th over and things were not looking good. Enter Jordan who went on to smash 84* in 39 balls (in probably his best innings for Chads) alongside Rahul who hit 47 in 25 taking us to 173-5 in our 20 overs.

In reply, after hitting 11 off the first over, it looked like the target was not going to be enough, but then the carnage started. Wickets in each of the next 5 overs restricted them to 41-5 off 6 overs and then 65-8 off 10 overs with great bowling from Jonno (3-9), Nick (2-20) and Jai (2-23).

With Kirkstall Educational eventually being bowled out for 88 in the 16th over, the game and the HT20 Champions trophy were in the bag.

Great effort by all the players and everyone who helped out.

Roll on next year when we go for the hat-trick!
