Double Delight

St Chad's Broomfield CC11 Sep - 00:00

...as 1st XI and 2nd XI clinch titles early!

It was a weekend of jubilation at the Club as both the 1st XI and 2nd XI secured their respective league titles — and with two games to spare, no less. The double triumph marks a historic moment for the Club, capping off a season defined by consistency, camaraderie, and collective excellence.

For the 1st XI, this latest success completes a remarkable hat-trick of consecutive league wins, underlining their dominance and resilience across multiple campaigns. Their ability to perform under pressure, adapt to conditions, and maintain high standards week after week has made them the benchmark for competitive cricket in the League.

Meanwhile, the 2nd XI have carved out their own legacy, clinching their division title for the second year running. Their achievement is made even sweeter by their cup victory earlier in the season, completing a memorable double and showcasing the depth of talent within the squad.

Club officials, players, and supporters gathered over the weekend to celebrate the milestone, with many reflecting on the hard work behind the scenes that made it possible.

From winter training sessions, the Club’s culture of support and shared purpose has been instrumental in driving success across the Club. “This is more than just silverware,” said Chairman Paul Berry, “It’s a reflection of the values we’ve built here — teamwork, inclusivity, and a genuine love for the game. To see both sides lift their divisions with matches to spare is a testament to the players’ commitment and the strength of our Club community.”

With two fixtures still remaining, attention now turns to finishing the season in style and preparing for the challenges ahead. But for now, the mood at the Club is one of celebration — and rightly so. Two titles, one cup, and a Club united in pride. It’s been a summer to remember.
