It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of club legend, Dave Todd.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday 5th May at 2.20pm at Lawnswood Crematorium and then afterwards at West Park Leeds RUFC in Bramhope.

Dave has been a member of the club since 1956 as well as being a Life Member for a number of years. He played for the club until only a few seasons ago after which he became a regular spectator, sometimes getting to see all three teams in one afternoon!

In his playing career, he regularly won bowling awards including a league award in 1987, the same year he captained the 2nd XI to success in the Reserve Evening Cup, which he recently recalled in his 'Old Boy' Profile, was his most memorable Chads match. He also represented Yorkshire over 50's and 60's in recent years.

Dave was always happy to pass on his experience and knowledge to the younger members of the club and was very well respected by a whole generation of juniors as well all who played with or against him.

He gained the nickname Python from some of these juniors in the late 80's after the grip he would put the batsmen under with his tight accurate bowling, which regularly led to bowling figures of less than a couple of runs an over.

He spent many years working on the ground and in that time he had probably cut every blade of grass on it. He had a thing for installing new drainage and to this day there is a section next to the square which is still known by all as, Toddy's Chamber!

Our thoughts are with his wife Pauline, his children, Michael, Judith and Christine and the rest of his family and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all.

If there is a cricket team upstairs, they have just acquired a fantastic bowler, clubman and an all round great guy.

A true Chad legend!
